The courtroom as the grand conference room after renovation

The former United States District Courtroom is now Bricker & Eckler's largest meeting room. The federal district court met here from 1887 until its move to Marconi Boulevard in 1934. The judges who presided over the district court in this building included George R. Sage (1887-1897); Albert C. Thompson (1898-1907); John E. Sater (1907-1924) and Benson W. Hough (1925-1934). The 1912 changes introduced veined marble paneling with deeply revealed cap moldings to the tops of the doors. The highlight of the restored courtroom, now the Grand Conference Room, is a 25-foot oak coffered ceiling, painted in a modern interpretation of the original. Special turnbuckle devices support the ceiling's immense weight. At the time of restoration in 1985, this room was divided into 15 small office spaces, the original ceiling had been painted green, and radiators were attached to the white-veined Italian marble extending 12 feet up the wall.
