Tour the Old, Old Post Office:
  The Link

One of the original window arches, now preserved as entrance to the link

The "link" - a free-standing, four-floor tower linking the two legs of the "U" constructed during the 1907 addition - was the only new addition added during the 1985 renovation. It added space for a new stairwell, a dumbwaiter, pantry, photocopy rooms and plumbing, mechanical, and electrical chases on each floor. Preservation consultants praised the link for its "contemporary compatible" design.
