Alex Brown is a partner in the Bricker & Eckler business law group and chair of the technology and intellectual property groups. He practices business transactional law, with an emphasis on transactions involving technology, software and intellectual property. He serves as outside counsel to a number of companies, from startup technology businesses to international financial institutions. Other areas of practice include intellectual property asset protection, mergers and acquisitions, emerging business and counsel for boards and executives.
Representative Experience
Represented international, publicly held entity in negotiating and drafting enterprise-wide software, hardware, outsourcing and service agreements with a variety of large and small vendors
Represents clients in acquisitions of various businesses, including technology, software, manufacturing, services, technology and real property
Represented growing technology company in licensing its proprietary software as a service (SaaS) solution to its national and international customers
Enabled startup and growing companies to raise working capital through multistate securities offerings
Helped establish an internet-based/e-commerce company and helped protect it via its e commerce contracts, terms of service and privacy policy
Assists companies in all phases of protecting their intellectual property and obtaining fees for the commercializing and infringement of same
Counsels clients in business entity selection and formation, protection and commercialization of assets, and protection from liability
Assisted in successfully defending against hostile takeover of publicly-held client
