Betsy Swift is a partner with Bricker & Eckler and is former chair of the employment and labor practice group. She has extensive experience in advising and counseling clients on issues ranging from equal employment opportunity and wrongful discharge to corporate reorganization and union organizational campaigns. Her practice also includes immigration issues and drafting employment policies, handbooks, employment agreements, and non-compete agreements.

Represents insurers and mortgage company in successfully resolving/defending race discrimination actions involving individuals and /or fair housing agencies and allegations of discriminatory denial of insurance coverage or lending practices Successfully defended employer in Ohio Civil Rights Commission self-initiated investigation regarding allegation of national origin discrimination in closure of stand-alone operation
Successfully represented numerous employers in union organizational campaigns
Served as employment counsel on all facets of consolidation of two acute care hospitals and development of new personnel policies, procedures and benefit packages
General counsel to numerous private and public employers on traditional labor and employment law issues, equal employment opportunity issues, and personnel policies and practices
Successfully argued case of first impression before the Ohio Supreme Court regarding amount of paid leave to which public employee is entitled for military leave
Represented specialty manufacturer through selection and implementation of mass layoff of 40% of its workforce without challenge by any terminated worker
