Litigation Appellate Employment and Labor Public Sector Manufacturing Higher Education
Vladimir Belo is a partner in the Bricker & Eckler employment and labor group and the litigation and appellate practice group. In 2009, he became certified as an Appellate Law Specialist by the Ohio State Bar Association.
Representative Experience
Advises and represents clients in appellate litigation matters pending or contemplated in state and federal appellate courts, as well as in original actions brought in Ohio's appellate courts
Has argued cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the Supreme Court of Ohio, and the courts of appeals in seven of Ohio's 12 appellate districts
Has written appellate briefs in cases before three U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Ohio, and courts of appeals in nine of Ohio's 12 appellate districts
Advises and represents clients seeking or opposing discretionary appellate review in the Ohio Supreme Court; has also assisted clients in original actions brought in the Supreme Court of Ohio
Has drafted several briefs to the Ohio Supreme Court for clients appearing as amici curiae in cases involving legal issues of particular importance to the law of Ohio
Has represented clients in administrative appeals taken from decisions of state or local agencies
Represents employers in employment related litigation, including matters involving alleged violations of state and federal anti-discrimination laws
Counsels clients on compliance with state and federal employment laws
Assists clients with review and drafting of employment agreements
Served as Judicial Law Clerk to Justice Deborah L. Cook at the Supreme Court of Ohio; also served as Judicial Law Clerk to Judge William H. Harsha III of the Ohio Fourth District Court of Appeals
Began his legal career as an associate in the Public Law Department for a law firm in Orange County, California; provided litigation and counseling services for public and private clients in several areas, including employment law and civil rights law; won defense verdict as lead counsel representing a city and two police officers in a civil rights lawsuit alleging excessive force
During law school, served as a Judicial Extern to Justice Ming W. Chin at the Supreme Court of California
