Special Education
Bricker & Eckler attorneys practice in every aspect of special education and disability law, including advising school districts with regard to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA/IDEIA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. We have extensive experience in the ever-changing area of special education law and advise school districts on a daily basis regarding special education questions and concerns.
In working with school districts in the special education arena, we stress prevention and planning to avoid potential legal problems and costly due process hearings while obtaining desired goals and results. Our goal is to help school districts solve problems, whenever possible, without the need for litigation. However, when litigation is necessary, we are experienced in representing school districts in court and in various administrative forums. We have represented school districts in a number of special education due process hearings, subsequent appeals to court, and in Office for Civil Rights investigations.
