Successfully handled an extensive ballot initiative petition opposition in 86 of Ohio's 88 counties for a major national organization representing the leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in the nation. Monitored signature gathering at over 808 polling places, checked signatures on all petitions, and filed protest actions in 41 counties.
Locating and acquiring sites in and relocating major operations centers to
central Ohio for national manufacturing and logistics clients. Includes
matters such as acquisition, deed restrictions, title, zoning, easements,
tax abatement, development, environmental, utilities and construction
matters, state and local economic incentives matters, build-to-suit lease
negotiations and sale of outgrown facilities.
Handling numerous plant expansions and land acquisitions for and
construction of support warehouse and distribution facilities, including
dealing with acquisition, rail access, flood control, building code,
economic incentives, access, easement, utilities, and construction matters
for national manufacturers in Ohio.
Locating and assembling sites for regional manufacturers, including
dealing with acquisition, title, easement, environmental, state and local
economic incentives, bond financing, and construction matters.
Assisting manufacturers in achieving significant annual personal property
tax reductions.
Negotiating tax incentive packages for new warehouse and manufacturing
facilities that include extensive real and personal property tax exemptions,
franchise tax credits, job creation credits and employee training grants.
Reviewing the business operations of manufacturers and recommending
structural and operations changes in order to take best advantage of
favorable sales tax and franchise/income tax laws.
Revamping telecommunications contract forms for manufacturers.
Developing and negotiating multi-million dollar monthly restructuring for
information technology outsourcing arrangements for manufacturers.
Preparing, negotiating and advising management in the roll-out of
contracts for development of software and systems for use in online order
fulfillment and logistics management.
Defending self-insured manufacturers in workers' compensation claims filed
by injured workers both administratively before the Industrial Commission of
Ohio and before the Courts of Common Pleas in several Ohio counties.
Defending Ohio manufacturers before the Industrial Commission of Ohio in
applications filed by injured workers, alleging injuries due to the
manufacturers' violations of mandated safety requirements.
Defending manufacturers workers' compensation claims before the Industrial
Commission of Ohio, the Court of Common Pleas, the Court of Appeals and the
Supreme Court of Ohio.
