   Nonprofit Organizations

Nonprofit organizations that are exempt from federal income taxation must ensure that they comply with the requirements of the Internal Revenue Code to maintain their tax-exempt status. At Bricker & Eckler, we work closely with all forms of tax-exempt organizations to ensure compliance with the Internal Revenue Code and diligently represent the interests of our clients before the Internal Revenue Service. Our clients range from 501(c)(3) public charities, supporting organizations and private foundations to trade associations, as well as civic associations and business leagues.

Our Nonprofit Organizations Group assists our clients in the broad areas of applying for and maintaining exemption from federal income tax, addressing unrelated business income tax, compensation planning and structuring sophisticated joint-venture activities. We regularly represent our clients before the Internal Revenue Service in applying for advance rulings and audit defense. In addition, we assist many of our clients with state tax issues, ranging from property tax exemption to the application of state sales, use and franchise taxes.

Some of the specific services we offer our clients include
