Bricker & Eckler represents developers in zoning, financing, closing, and construction activities. We have served as lead counsel for clients involved in the development of major office buildings and hotels in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Toledo, Indianapolis, Denver, Louisville, Pittsburgh, St. Petersburg, West Palm Beach, Orlando, and Ft. Lauderdale. Other development projects for which the firm has served as legal counsel include urban redevelopment projects, shopping centers, golf courses, apartment complexes, warehouses and distribution centers, convention centers, and condominium developments and conversions.
We have also served as lead counsel for a real estate investment trust in the negotiation of all documentation for the acquisition and construction of super regional shopping centers involving investments in excess of $1 billion, including site purchase contracts, development agreements, off-site improvement agreements with public entities, financing documents, management and leasing agreements and equity joint venture agreements.

Land Development
Developer’s counsel in the acquisition of approximately 150 acres of raw
land in connection with the development of a retail shopping center and the simultaneous sale of
approximately 59 acres thereof for the development of a multi-family housing complex,
which sale of land involved the preparation of multiple complex easement agreements between the buyer and seller
Handled all real estate matters for publicly traded, Ohio-based assisted living
company from the acquisition and financing of its initial site in Columbus to the acquisition of
its expansion sites throughout Ohio and in Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Iowa, North Carolina,
Michigan, Minnesota and North Dakota
Represented developer in acquisition and development of 750-unit condominium project
located in Columbus, known as Waggoner Park Condominiums and The Ravines at Waggoner Park
Represented Columbus library system in connection with expansions of its branches and
acquisitions of new properties
Retail Development
Developer's counsel in connection with the development of a retail
shopping mall in New Jersey. Negotiated $163 million bank financing and handled
agreements with public agencies for construction of required public improvements.
Also handled documentation regarding the acquisition, certain environmental
matters and the equity interests in the entity owning the project
