Just as private companies are attempting to adapt to the developing “green economy,” public entities and school
districts are also beginning to recognize the need and opportunity to promote sustainability and address climate change in their communities
and their own operations. In this new era of green opportunities and increasing green regulations, state and federal mandates are increasingly requiring municipalities,
school districts, and other public entities to adopt energy efficiency programs, utilize sustainable LEED-certified project designs, and assess their impact on the environment.
The Bricker & Eckler LLP Green Strategies Group has the knowledge and experience to provide the following services:
Representation during planning, financing, design, construction, and leasing of LEED-certified building projects and
other sustainable development programs, including the Ohio School Facilities Commission’s Green Schools Initiative.
Understanding evolving GHG and carbon regulations, and associated environmental and economic impacts and opportunities such as The Climate Registry.
Assistance in financing, implementation and oversight of sustainability action plans, including energy efficiency, carbon footprint, and other cost savings programs.
Representation during planning, siting, financing, negotiating, and operating of clean energy technologies and in
negotiations with utilities to market the energy.
Advising clients regarding internal waste and energy management programs, which we have experience successfully implementing at our firm.
As advanced energy technologies and green initiatives expand, the public sector has the opportunity to take the lead on behalf of their citizens to
integrate these new and innovative green technologies into their communities, reduce operating costs, and establish themselves as an excellent environment for people to live, learn and grow.
