Lobbying & Public Policy

Overview

Whether supporting a registered lobbyist or lobbying on an organization’s behalf, our Government Relations attorneys work extensively with the General Assembly and state agencies to provide our clients with an influential and continued voice in legislative and policy affairs. Our registered in-house lawyer/lobbyists have a proven track record of building clients’ “brands” on Capitol Square by monitoring and analyzing legislation, drafting bills and amendments, and communicating firsthand with legislators and executive branch officials to advance clients’ objectives.

Our dedicated attorneys know what it takes to effectively advocate clients’ interests and objectives. Bricker & Eckler has more than 70 years of involvement in the legislative, administrative and regulatory matters of the state of Ohio. With a thorough understanding of Ohio’s legislative process and valuable connections and relationships in both major political parties, we work with our clients to educate legislators and executive branch personnel about the issues of greatest impact.

We actively represent more than 30 government relations and regulatory clients before the Ohio General Assembly, state agencies and local governmental entities. Clients have come to rely on our ability to quickly learn their issues and communicate a clear and concise message to legislators and decision makers at the local, state and federal levels. Some of our advocacy tactics include:

  • Drafting legislative documents
  • Analyzing proposed bills and rules
  • Building coalitions
  • Interpreting regulations
  • Assisting in administrative hearing processes
  • Creating written materials to explain issues
  • Forming and administering state and federal PACs
  • Developing strategies for issue advocacy campaigns
