Representative Experience
Represents boards of education and county boards of mental retardation and developmental disabilities in general litigation matters, employment-related matters, including grievances and arbitration, and employee disciplinary, contract non-renewal, and employee termination proceedings
Prepares policies and administrative guidelines regarding students and employees, workplace safety, school administration, No Child Left Behind, and other state and federal laws
Advises school districts on matters relating to school enrollment, right to attend, custody and tuition
Advises school districts on special education matters, including IEP meetings, complaint responses, and IDEIA 2004 compliance, represents school districts in related mediation and litigation
Successfully assisted a school district in obtaining an expedited Writ of Mandamus from the Court of Appeals ordering that a levy issue be placed on the ballot
Former Judicial Law Clerk at the 10th District Court of Appeals, drafted appellate opinions regarding civil, administrative, domestic relations and criminal law and researched pertinent Ohio and federal case law and statutes Former Assistant Director of Common Cause/Ohio, drafted memoranda and supporting documents for Ohio campaign finance reform legislation; advised governing board of legal issues relating to pending legislation; and prepared testimony before legislative committees
