Legislative Experience and Representations

Our recent legislative representations include:

  • Assisting trade association of insurers in drafting and advocating state legislation to address Stranger-Originated Life Insurance transactions.

  • Assisting groups of life, health, and property and casualty insurers with coalition building and communication strategies with members of the Ohio General Assembly and the executive branch.

  • Assisting a large national medical malpractice insurer with drafting and obtaining passage of an amendment under the Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association statutes.

  • Drafting and subsequently advocating passage of a budget amendment that prohibited municipalities from requiring insurance companies to withhold municipal income taxes from disability benefit payments, saving disability insurers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

  • Representing a group of property and casualty insurers before the Ohio Elections Commission on electioneering and campaign finance related issues.

  • Developing advocacy and campaign strategies using the ballot initiative processes as a tool for achieving health insurers’ policy goals.
