Advocating Public Policies that Favor Advanced Energy

Bricker & Eckler represents business coalitions, university partnerships, and individual companies in advocating business’ advanced energy agenda before the Ohio General Assembly, the Office of the Governor, the Governor's new Energy Advisor, the Ohio Department of Development, and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

Government Relations
Our team of government relations attorneys, who are all registered lobbyists, help advanced energy companies achieve their business and policy goals. With a strong understanding of the national, state and local political environments, we are well-positioned to advocate for increased public funding for advanced energy, regulation that encourages the development of energy technology, and making connections among policymakers at all levels of government to ensure a properly coordinated energy policy.

Regulatory
As the debate in Ohio over electric utility restructuring gets underway, we are monitoring the environment closely to be able to advise advanced energy companies and providers about the potential for “distributed generation.” We understand the importance of “The Grid,” and can help you navigate through the complex regulations governing access to this resource and the costs associated with tying into it.

Our regulatory attorneys, including a former commissioner of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, regularly appear before the PUCO on behalf of clients. From power siting to allocating energy costs, we are ready to assist your company in navigating the complexities of Ohio's arcane utility regulations.

Finance
Bricker & Eckler bond attorneys can help structure financial packages that take advantage of all available tax and economic incentives that can help make an advanced energy project a reality. Helping you find creative ways to get R&D to commercialization is our strength.

Corporate
As advanced energy businesses scale up their commercialization efforts, our corporate attorneys assist with structuring businesses in a way to maximize the benefits, including providing corporate and tax advice. In addition, our corporate attorneys help entrepreneurs with multiple companies to structure each in a way that minimizes overall risks and liabilities.
