Federico G. Barrera III

Staff Attorney


Federico G. Barrera possesses a wealth of public sector, education, and litigation experience. He has represented numerous state agencies and boards at the administrative, trial, and appellate court levels, prosecuting violations of Ohio law and defending the State of Ohio in both state and federal court. Rico works with public school districts, colleges, and universities on matters involving cooperative agreements, civil rights investigations, and employment. He has an affinity for examining public records and open meetings issues and frequently advises clients on Ohio Public Records Act and Ohio Open Meetings Act matters. He also has significant courtroom experience, having served as first chair in more than 200 trial court and administrative hearings.

Previously an Assistant Attorney General in the Executive Agencies Section in the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Rico possesses more than five years of AG experience. Additionally, he was a certified legal intern with the Milton A. Kramer Community Development Law Clinic and a legal intern with the Federal Trade Commission.
