Kathumbi returns to Bricker & Eckler as partner

Demonstrating the firm’s continued attraction of high-caliber, well-respected local attorneys, Lisa Kathumbi returns to Bricker & Eckler today as a partner in the Employment and Health Care practice teams. Lisa began her career as a law clerk at Bricker and spent her first three years as a lawyer in the firm’s employment law department. She left to join the Ohio Department of Health as Senior Legal Counsel.

"We are thrilled to have Lisa back at Bricker,” says Kurt Tunnell, managing partner at Bricker & Eckler. “Not only has she distinguished herself as a top-notch employment lawyer, Lisa is a trusted advisor on complex health care regulatory matters. Lisa is passionate about her practice, takes exceptional care of her clients and is a highly respected leader in both her profession and community. She is such a terrific asset to our firm and, more importantly, to our clients."

Lisa has built her practice by representing and counseling employers of varying sizes in a broad range of employment matters at both the state and federal levels. In addition to her litigation practice, Lisa is experienced in employment training, advising on day-to-day employment operations and decisions; and preparing employee handbooks and policies.

Lisa is not only a leading employment lawyer, but also a leader in the community. She is currently serving as president-elect of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association. When her term begins in 2017, she will be the first African-American to lead the OWBA, a 25-year-old professional legal association. She has started important conversations in her leadership role regarding gender disparities, the business case for diversity and strategies for building inclusive environments.
