Ohio Supreme Court unanimously upholds Secretary of State Jon Husted's decision to deny ballot certification for Libertarian AG candidate Steven Linnabary
The Ohio Supreme Court today released its unanimous opinion upholding Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted's decision to deny ballot certification for Steve Linnabary, the Libertarian candidate for Ohio attorney general, The Columbus Dispatch reports. The high court supported Husted's interpretation of Ohio's petition circulation laws, which require circulators to disclose on forms by whom they were paid.
The justices were not swayed by Linnabary's appeal in which he claimed that one of his circulators did not have to list an employer because the individual functioned as an independent contractor. "Charlie Earl, the Libertarian candidate for governor, and Linnabary, are appealing their loss of another ballot-access challenge in U.S. District Court in Columbus to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals," the article said.
