Bricker’s Cincinnati and Columbus offices acquire high-profile health care attorneys

The state’s leading health care law firm just attracted some outstanding talent to strengthen its bench. Catherine Dunlay and Elizabeth Kastner, two of Ohio’s most accomplished health care attorneys, have joined Bricker & Eckler LLP as partners in the firm’s Health Care group. Cathy will practice in Bricker’s downtown Cincinnati office, and Beth will practice in the firm’s Columbus office.

With more than 45 years of combined legal experience, Cathy and Beth have established robust practices representing some of the state’s largest hospitals, health systems and other provider organizations. Both Cathy and Beth formerly practiced with Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cathy and Beth to Bricker & Eckler, and to offer their considerable experience to our clients in Ohio and beyond,” said Jim Flynn, chair of Bricker’s Health Care group. “The addition of these two respected attorneys adds strength to what is already one of the strongest health care law practices in the region and the nation.”

Cathy Dunlay is well known for her involvement in health care mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, and contractual arrangements, including a variety of hospital-physician relationships. She also counsels clients on operational and compliance matters, including Anti-Kickback and Stark physician self-referral laws and Medicare and Medicaid coverage and reimbursement issues. She has been a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences, discussing topics such as hospital acquisition of physician practices, provider-based status and under arrangements, health care reform legislation and Accountable Care Organizations. Cathy earned her law degree at The Ohio State University Moritz School of Law.

Beth Kastner regularly advises clients on vendor/supply chain relationships; software licensing; clinically integrated networks; narrow networks, shared saving and bundled payment models; workplace wellness; Medicare/Medicaid participation and reimbursement; licensure and accreditation; health information privacy; and health care fraud and abuse law compliance. Beth is a graduate of The Ohio State University Moritz School of Law.

“Beth and Cathy bring important connections and noteworthy experience to Bricker’s health care team, enhancing our practice’s breadth and depth, our premier level of service, and our commitment to our clients,” said Flynn.
