Telehealth is here to stay, according to Kleinman

Due to COVID-19, the use of telehealth continues to increase dramatically, as well as reimbursement for virtual medical appointments. In Credentialing Resource Center’s article, “The new face of telemedicine: How COVID-19 is changing the practice” (subscription required), health care attorney Steve Kleinman describes how telemedicine has and continues to evolve during the pandemic. Not only has “the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) further expanded reimbursement for telehealth services,” but “[p]atients have generally had a positive response to the use of telehealth.” According to Kleinman, telehealth “appears to be an effective mode of treatment for many physician/patient visits. It will be difficult, if not impossible, to revert back to where we were pre-COVID with respect to telehealth.”
