Bricker snags four new public sector attorneys, will open new office in southwest Ohio

Bricker & Eckler LLP welcomed four new public sector attorneys to the firm this week. Partners Ben Yoder and Austin Musser were joined by associates Carly Sherman and Brodi Conover coming from Frost Brown Todd. This team will help the firm open a brick and mortar office in Warren County.

Ben Yoder’s practice revolves around representation of Ohio townships and municipalities with particular focus in the areas of general counsel, land use and zoning and real estate litigation. As zoning counsel to a variety of southwest Ohio local governments, he has experience with comprehensive planning, zoning / code resolution drafting, map and text amendments, planned unit developments, conditional uses, variance, code enforcement and generalized staff consultation. As the partner in charge of the new Lebanon office, Ben is actively involved in Warren County’s civic, charitable and leadership communities.

Helping clients accomplish their construction and real estate plans, Austin Musser’s practice focuses on land use planning and zoning, real estate leasing and purchasing, development and redevelopment projects, eminent domain, public bidding and construction contracting and dispute resolution. Additionally, Austin helps clients representing financial institutions in loan workouts, foreclosures and asset liquidation.

Assisting clients with litigation and appellate matters, Brodi Conover focuses primarily on the representation of government entities in complex litigation in state and federal court. Brodi also provides law director services to township, municipal and school district clients, particularly on Ohio Sunshine Laws, election law and constitutional law.

Carly Sherman serves local governments and school districts in a general counsel capacity. Furthermore, she handles a variety of complex litigation matters for public sector clients and regularly appears before common pleas courts and administrative bodies across the state of Ohio.

“The addition of these four attorneys is an important resource for our public sector clients,” said Caleb Bell, chair of Bricker’s Public Sector group. “Their reputation in southwest Ohio, specifically in Warren and Butler counties, underscores our commitment to the region. Their team approach to client service is exactly aligned with ours, and we are excited to add their unique public law specialties to our already large and diverse Public Sector practice group.”

“As a long-time resident of southwest Ohio, I am especially proud to serve the members of my community as a partner at Bricker,” added Yoder. “The people in our region are at the heart of everything we do and the folks at Bricker get that. They have been standing by our side in this community for many years. Given the growth we’ve experienced – and will continue to see – joining forces with a team as dedicated as Bricker is a smart move.”

Jim Flynn, Bricker’s managing partner, is enthusiastic about the move as well. “Increasing our presence in southwest Ohio is a strategic priority for us,” he said. “Another priority, and we believe one of our key strategic advantages, is to have attorneys with experience and expertise for the challenges our clients face. This move advances both of those priorities for us.”
