Justin Cook selected as chair of AHLA Tax and Finance Practice Group

Tax attorney Justin Cook was recently selected to leadership within the American Health Law Association (AHLA) as chair of the organization's Tax and Finance Practice Group.

AHLA is the nation’s largest, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in the health care field and strives to educate and connect the health law community. Currently, the association has over 13,000 members who practice in a variety of settings, including law firms, accounting and consulting firms, and as in-house counsel. AHLA’s Tax and Finance Practice Group focuses on federal and state tax issues impacting both tax-exempt and taxable health care organizations.

In his practice, Justin frequently advises 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(6) organizations, including hospitals, foundations, political organizations and trade associations, on federal and state tax issues related to formation, attaining recognition of exemption, operational structures, transactions and dissolution. Justin earned his Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest University School of Law, as well as his Master of Laws in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to his chair appointment, Justin held several vice chair roles within AHLA's Tax and Finance Practice Group, including most recently serving as vice chair of education.
