Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) energy program wins prestigious ENERGY STAR award

Firm News

The OHA, a Bricker client and partner for nearly 30 years, was announced as the 2019 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award winner. The award recognizes OHA’s outstanding efforts in energy efficiency program delivery, a program begun by longtime OHA attorney Rick Sites and Bricker attorney Tom O’Brien and currently run by Program Director Nolan Rutschilling.

Today, the OHA (in partnership with Energent Solutions and Bricker attorneys Devin Parram and Dylan Borchers) carry on OHA’s nationally-renowned “Energy and Sustainability Program” to support the mission of Ohio hospitals to optimize operating costs and repurpose those savings for important health care efforts. In 2018, OHA member hospitals who participated in the program achieved $9.6 million in energy savings, rebates and educational benefits.

Thanks in part to this program and the leadership of the OHA, Ohio is now second in the nation in ENERGY STAR certified hospitals. Additionally, Ohio hospitals have achieved an aggregate energy reduction of .9 percent – 36 percent above the national average.
