Bricker wins “Innovative Project of the Year” at ILTA annual conference
Bricker & Eckler shone at the 2017 International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) national conference, winning the top prize in one category of the Distinguished Peer Awards and receiving a top three nomination in another category. Bricker won “Innovative Project of the Year – External/Client-Facing Category” for the firm’s development of a unique technology solution on behalf of an energy client. Additionally, Litigation Support Manager David Hasman was nominated as a “Young Professional of the Year” for effectively bridging the gap between law and technology.
“Innovative Project of the Year – External Client-Facing Category” – WINNER
Bricker’s collaborative team of energy attorneys and litigation support personnel built a unique technology solution on behalf of, and in conjunction with, one of our clients – a natural gas distributor in the process of developing a massive interstate pipeline. Through the use of multiple applications, the team established the ability to organize information related to thousands of real estate documents and manage the individual data of multiple landowners, tracts and lawsuits. This technology solution saved both the firm and the client an unquantifiable amount of resources. The end result was a user-friendly system that would compile documents from a variety of sources, even creating litigation documents with the click of a button. The other nominees in this category included Corrs Chambers Westgarth, an Australian law firm recognized for its development of a smart platform to generate and manage legal documents, and Goodwin, a global law firm who built an application to help startups organize the legal structure of their businesses.
“Young Professional of the Year” – NOMINEE
Dave Hasman, Bricker & Eckler Litigation Support Manager since 2012, is highly involved in many projects dealing with litigation support software. Recently, he has played an integral role in two significant projects: legal data/document compilation for a $2.5 billion pipeline and a petition signature analysis on behalf of a pharmaceutical client. Likewise, Dave is a key leader in developing the firm's legal support team and has helped us grow the firm’s capabilities in using technology to better serve clients. Bricker energy attorney Frank Merrill, who presented at the ILTA conference, recognizes the important role that technology plays in today’s legal industry. “It’s no longer enough for an attorney to use just email and word processing to serve clients. We must adopt innovative solutions and take advantage of technology to solve complex problems. At Bricker, we’re fortunate to have highly-skilled technology gurus on our legal team.”
“ILTA’s recognition of our firm as an international leader in legal technology is quite the honor,” stated Bricker Managing Partner Kurt Tunnell. “These awards demonstrate our commitment to using innovative resources to help our clients and our ability to effectively leverage technology to achieve their goals.”
