Five attorneys join Bricker & Eckler
Already in 2020, five attorneys have joined the law firm of Bricker & Eckler, demonstrating continued growth within several of the firm’s primary industry groups. Newly-added attorneys include Beth Bolyard, health care; Jeff Harris, public finance; Jeff Knight, education; Anthony Lelli, employment and labor; and Lindsay Oak, banking and financial services.
"Adding talented individuals to our team always feels great, but adding five at the beginning of a new year provides an extra jolt for us," said Managing Partner Jim Flynn. "All five of these attorneys come to us with prior experience that fits nicely with existing areas of strength for us in health care, education, economic development, banking and financial services. With them, we’re a stronger team."
Beth Bolyard is an accomplished health care attorney with extensive knowledge and regulatory compliance experience in clinical operations and related laws and regulations. She has over 18 years of regulatory and compliance experience focused on health care and hospital operations within a law firm setting, as well as over a decade of in-house counsel experience for a large, multi-hospital health system and academic medical center with numerous affiliated health care service lines. Beth devotes her practice to working with hospitals and their medical staffs on governance documents including medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, manuals and policies.
Jeff Harris has nearly two decades of experience in economic development. He is an important part of the firm’s public finance team, managing various public finance projects and administrative functions for Tax Increment Financing (TIF), special assessment and new community authority work. At both the city and state levels, Jeff has served in various attorney and non-attorney roles. He began his career at the Ohio Department of Development (ODSA), where he spent 10 years managing economic development grants, tax incentives and abatement programs, as well as ultimately serving as the interim CFO. Most recently, Jeff worked with the Knox County Area Development Foundation, where he rebuilt operations and governance of the county’s nonprofit, countywide economic development organization.
Jeff Knight is an education attorney with experience litigating on behalf of, and providing counsel to, colleges, universities and other public entities. His practice is varied and includes assisting clients in navigating various data governance regulations, including FERPA, HIPAA, FCRA and GDPR, as well as matters arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title IX. Additionally, Jeff has successfully led clients through investigations initiated by state and federal agencies.
Anthony Lelli is an employment and labor attorney with particular experience managing workers’ compensation claims. Representing clients in Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) and Industrial Commission hearings, he evaluates medical records, prepares arguments and manages the progress of cases on behalf of clients. He has advanced knowledge of treatment authorizations, diagnosis allowances, disability benefits, vocational rehabilitation services, permanent impairment awards, and other topics related to compensatory award eligibility.
Lindsay Oak is an experienced legal counsel whose practice focuses on consumer lending. Having served in-house with one of the nation’s largest full-service banking franchises, she understands the transactional, litigation and regulatory needs of banks and other financial service providers. Navigating Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) rules and regulations, Lindsay ensures that her clients remain compliant within this continually-changing regulatory landscape. Lindsay’s past experience includes The Huntington National Bank and Axcess Financial Services, Inc.
All five attorneys will practice out of the firm’s Columbus office.
