Susan E. Geary

Susan Geary is Of Counsel to Bricker & Eckler with an education practice that emphasizes special education, student rights, student discipline, policy development and litigation. Her special education practice includes counseling school districts on special education issues, training staff, attending IEP meetings and mediation sessions, representing school districts in due process hearings and litigation, and responding to special education complaints. Susan provides presentations on a wide variety of student-related topics, including special education. She has served as an Adjunct Professor teaching special education law in the School of Educational Policy and Leadership at The Ohio State University, and was formerly employed as a consultant with the Ohio Department of Education in the areas of special education and elementary and secondary education.

Susan is a frequent speaker on issues related to special education, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other student matters. She has provided presentations for a number of educational organizations and school districts, including the Ohio School Boards Association, Buckeye Association of School Administrators, Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators, Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators, Ohio Association for Career Technical Education, Ohio Association of Pupil Service Administrators and the Ohio State Bar Association.
