Overview

From project planning to final closeout, Tarik Kershah helps public entities navigate the complexities of construction while keeping projects compliant, practical, and on track.

Tarik Kershah is a partner in Bricker Graydon Wyatt’s Construction Group, where he focuses his practice on public construction, procurement, and the legal and practical issues that arise in the planning, funding, procurement, construction, and closeout of public projects.

Tarik regularly advises boards of education, school administrators, municipalities, libraries, and other public entities on construction and procurement matters. His work includes helping clients evaluate project delivery options, comply with competitive bidding and public procurement requirements, structure and negotiate project documents, administer construction contracts, and address change orders, payment disputes, delays, defective work, and closeout issues. He also counsels public clients on procurement compliance, expenditure authority, and related issues intended to protect public funds and avoid improper spending, procurement irregularities, and unauthorized project commitments.

A significant portion of Tarik’s practice involves representing Ohio school districts on facility projects and related transactions, including new construction, renovations, athletic facility improvements, donated improvements, booster club-funded projects, shared-use arrangements, and other private support arrangements involving public school facilities. He works closely with district leaders, administrators, design professionals, construction managers, and contractors to structure these matters in a way that is practical, legally compliant, and consistent with public contracting requirements.

While much of Tarik’s current practice focuses on counseling clients before disputes escalate, he continues to represent public and private clients in mediation, arbitration, and litigation involving construction defects, delay claims, payment disputes, contract interpretation, project closeout, and other commercial and construction-related matters.

Tarik frequently speaks at seminars and training programs on public construction, school procurement, project delivery, contract administration, and related issues affecting Ohio public entities. He is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Illinois and brings nearly two decades of experience helping clients manage the legal, financial, and practical risks associated with construction, procurement, and public projects.
