On October 8th, 2021, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) launched a Spanish version of its QuestionBuilder app in order to improve health care access and equity for Latinos. The app will help Latino patients who struggle to communicate with their providers due to language barriers prepare for their in-person or telehealth appointments. Based on a HHS report, Spanish-speaking Latino adults are more likely to worry about medical bills and less likely to obtain outpatient care and receive prescriptions than their English-speaking counterparts. The app is therefore intended to improve health care decision making for Spanish-speaking patients by helping them prepare for their medical appointments. Users of the QuestionBuilder in Spanish will choose questions they want to ask their doctor, which can then be customized to fit individual needs.
