Medicare Increases Reimbursement for COVID-19 Vaccines

On March 15, 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced that it is increasing the Medicare reimbursement rate for administering the COVID-19 vaccine. This higher payment is intended to support the expansion of administration of the vaccine, including establishing and expanding vaccination sites, conducting patient outreach and education, and increasing staff. The new reimbursement rate will be $40 to administer each dose of a vaccine.
