UnitedHealth Group has until Nov. 5 to provide the Senate Aging Committee with answers on who and how much it owes to providers after federal investigators confirmed it paid “’millions’ of provider bills 40% less than the Medicare rate for inoculating patients.” According to a Modern Healthcare report, UnitedHealth Group stated that it will adjust claims paid below the Medicare rate of $40 from March 15 to June 30 and will repay in-network providers. It has been reimbursing clinicians $40 for administering vaccines since July 1, according to a UnitedHealth Group spokesperson, but “providers should expect delays in receiving their checks since its payment systems will need time to reflect CMS’ new codes and rates.”
