FERPA and Public Records Considerations in Title IX Cases (Free Title IX In Focus Webinar Series)

Webinar
 | 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET

This practical session will focus on navigating confidentiality and disclosure obligations when Title IX matters generate competing demands from parties, campus stakeholders, and external requesters.  These competing demands highlight the interplay between Title IX and FERPA, common privacy pitfalls in case communications and evidence handling, and key considerations for responding to public records/media inquiries while protecting personally identifiable education records.

This session is pending approval by the Minimum Continuing Legal Education Board of the Supreme Court of Illinois and the Commission on Continuing Legal Education for the Ohio Supreme Court for 1.0 total CLE hours of instruction.

About this series:

Bricker Graydon Wyatt’s Title IX In Focus Free Webinar Series focuses on issues related to sexual misconduct, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. This series is aimed at helping colleges and universities comply with annual training requirements under the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act (110 ILCS 155/1 et seq.) and the Clery Act (34 CFR § 668.46), in addition to ensuring ongoing discussions about practical strategies, legal updates, and trauma-informed practices.

Running from August 2026 through May 2027, each webinar will be presented by a member of Bricker Graydon Wyatt’s Higher Education team, and may feature guest speakers from our network of university partners, key government agencies, and seasoned professionals in the field of sexual misconduct and relationship violence.

Although we had our Illinois friends in mind when developing this series, it is open to anyone employed by a college or university.

If you would like to request specific content or are interested in serving as a guest speaker, please contact Jessica Galanos at jgalanos@bricker.com.

To register to additional sessions in this series, check out the Title IX In Focus Free Webinar Series page.

Attendance at these trainings is limited to employees of higher education institutions and other individuals who provide services to those institutions. Individuals who are unaffiliated with an institution will not be permitted to attend without prior approval.
