Higher Ed Attorneys Author Chapter in New Book Titled The Digitized Campus: Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in Higher Education

Firm News

Higher Education attorneys Jeff Knight and Melissa Carleton have contributed a chapter to the recently released book The Digitized Campus: Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in Higher Education.

Their chapter, “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Higher Education: Opportunity, Risk, and Responsible Governance,” examines the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in colleges and universities and the legal, operational, and governance considerations institutions must address as AI adoption accelerates.

The book explores how higher education institutions are collecting and leveraging more data than ever before and how artificial intelligence and big data tools are reshaping student learning, faculty research, and institutional operations. At the same time, the publication addresses the significant privacy, employment, and governance challenges that accompany these technological advancements, including concerns surrounding student privacy rights and increased monitoring of faculty and employee activity.

Drawing from historical, legal, philosophical, methodological, and practitioner perspectives, the authors throughout the book provide guidance and insight for higher education leaders, faculty, and administrators navigating the opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence and big data.
